Re: Salary Ordinance of 2002
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance to be known as the Salary Ordinance of 2002. The significant
amendments are:
1. The addition of the new hourly pay rate for the Student Intern, Student Helper I, and Senior
Community Services Aid classes of work, pursuant to Act 279, SLH 2001 that increases the
State of Hawai`i's minimum hourly wage effective January 1, 2003.
2. The corresponding increase of $.50 to the hourly pay rate for the Student Helper II class of
work effective January 1, 2003.
3. The deletion of the appointed director and deputy director classes of work and pay rates that
the Salary Commission now has the authority to set pursuant to the recent Hawaii County
Charter amendments.
4. Under Section 3. F2ate of Compensation. The deletion of the exception to paying
department heads at the rates of compensation set forth in the executive pay plan
established by section 7.

the County's budget.
The significant amendments are:
1) The addition of the new hourly pay rate for the Student Intern, Student
Helper I, and Senior Community Services Aid classes of work, pursuant to
