Although I arrived before the meeting started and signed up to testify, I never got to do so. I had to leave for work at 3:30 PM after cancelling my first 2 students of the day by telephone, in order to be able to stay at the meeting up to that time. I understand there was a list already on your desk at the beginning of the meeting, wntaining many names of people who were supporters of Bill 62. I also understand that this list had been put together by County employees before the date of the meeting, April 26. Although you made a real effort to be fair and suggested to the public to alternate pro and con, all present decided it to be most fair if you would go by the order in which the sign-up sheets were gathered earlier that day. Of course we did not know -and you did not volunteer the information- that there was this list in front of you with names already gathered BEFORE April 26 and that these people were called up first to speak, because they had "signed up" earlier than anybody elset 1 find this to be utterly undemocratic and it surely undermines my faith in fair and honest decision-making. ft makes me feel upset, rebellious and uncooperative with government. Therefore I recommend strongly that you revoke the Finance Committee's decision and give the public another opportunity to express their feelings regarding this "very controversial issue that divides the wmmunity" (Quoting your very own words).
