Comm. 590: AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A PAY PLAN FOR PERSONS EMPLOYED BY
(Bill 208) THE COUNTY OTHER THAN THOSE WHOSE PAY IS OTHERWISE
PROVIDED FOR, DESIGNATING PAYROLL PERIODS, PAY DAYS,
PRESCRIBING REQUIREMENTS WITH RESPECT TO OFFICIAL FIDELITY
BONDS, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 01-59 AND ALL
AMENDMENTS THERETO, SAID ORDINANCE TO BE KNOWN AS THE
SALARY ORDINANCE OF 2002
From Finance Director William Takaba, dated April 1, 2002, transmitting the above
bill. States the significant amendments include the addition of the new hourly pay
rate for the Student Intern, Student Helper I and Senior Community Services Aid
classes of work pursuant to the State increase in minimum wage; the corresponding
increase of $.50 per hour to the Student Helper II class effective January 1, 2003; the
deletion of the appointed director and deputy director classes of work and pay rates
that the Salary Commission now has the authority to set pursuant to the recent
County Charter amendments; and deletion under Section 3, Rate of Compensation,
on the exception to paying department heads at the rates of compensation set forth in
the executive pay plan established by Section 7.
Comm. 592: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AMULTI-
(Res. 202-02) YEAR AGREEMENT WITH K. TANIGUCHI, LTD. FOR THE HANAMA PLACE
OFFICE BUILDING (to extend usage of the Hanama Place Office Building in
Kailua-Kona for an additional three years be ig nning on July 1, 2002)
From Finance Director William Takaba, dated April 9, 2002, transmitting the above
resolution. The County of Hawaii seeks to extend its usage of the Hanama Place
Office Building for an additional three (3) years, beginning on July 1, 2002.
Comm. 593: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. O l -56, AS AMENDED,
(Bill 209) RELATING TO PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND FINANCING THEREOF FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR JULY I, 2001 TO JUNE 30, 2002 (by adding the Puna Makai
Alternate Route Study -Council District 5 for $250 000)
From Councilmember Gary Safarik, dated April 16, 2002, transmitting the above bill.
The intent of the bill is to have the item included within the Capital Improvement
Program. Also attached is a Financial Impact Statement that further delineates the
scope of the project, and a map of Puna Makai.

AND COMMUNICATIONS
From Subcommittee on Technology and Communications Chair Gary Safarik, dated
April l9, 2002, informing that Councilmembers Nancy Pisicchio and Curtis Tyler
will also serve on the Subcommittee on Technology and Communications and that
they will be holding their first meeting on May 14, 2002.
