Dear Ms. Pisicchio,
We have bad a channce to review the agenda for the upcoming Counci] rioeeting on April
16~', 2002 to appropriate funds to Nonprofit Organizations for the $scal y;.ar 2002-2003_
We have also reviewed your Memorandum to the Coursed recommending continuation of
current funding for The Arc of Hilo Domicdiary Nome, ICa Home Pulama. The Arc of
Hilo clients, Board of Directors and staffare very appreciative of this recommendation.
We know the hard choices your committEe and the Council have to make each year and
we are thankful that this appropriation enables us to continue the .needed services for our
clier?ts.
We also commend the Council for being a lobbying voice for the Human Services sector
at the State Legislature and as I am a member of Provider Organizations chat also do such
lobbying, I would be glad to add testimony and/or assist in any way possible toward your
endeavors in this area We would also like to commend the Legislative Auditor's office
for the development of the new application form as it saved many hours of work by hard-
pressed a-ta$at all the nonprofit organizations.
Unless you have specific questions, we would L1ce use April 1 b~' wonting with our
clients. But we would 1>Zce to rxtend an open invitafion to the Hawaii Coutzty Council to
