OFFICE LEASE
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Hawaii County Charter requires that any contract, lease or
other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or more than
one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Corporation Counsel Family Support Division's lease of its Kona
office, located in the Haleki`i Street building in Kealakekua, Hawaii and belonging to Calvin and Amy
Hata, will terminate on June 30, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the original lease agreement entered between both parties on June 22, 1992, and
as authorized by Resolution 439-92, contained an option to renew for five year terms; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to exercise this option to renew for an additional five year
period, commencing on July 1, 2002 and ending on June 30, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the County will be fully reimbursed for the entire office lease cost by the State of
Hawaii Child Support Enforcement Agency.
NOW, THEREFORE, ~E IT RESOLVED ~Y THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that in accordance with Section 10-11 of the Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized
to renew the lease of the Office of the Corporation Counsel Family Support Division's Kona office and
that sufficient funds be budgeted in future years to cover the anticipated obligations of the County
under the terms of the agreement.
