Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 186-02, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 186-02, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 563, dated March 19, 2002, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Brewer
Environmental Industries, LLC.
Brewer Environmental Industries, LLC has graciously donated Hazmat response equipment to
the Hawaii County Fire Department as part of its settlement agreement with the Environmental
Protection Agency. The value of this donation is estimated at $70,000.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Stephen W. Knox, President, Brewer Environmental
Industries, LLC, 311 Pacific Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96817, acknowledging this generous
donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 186-02
and recommends its adoption.
