Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the Hawaii County
Veterans Advisory Committee. The nominees were recommended by their
respective Veterans organizations or selected by the committee as at-large
nominees, as it has been done in the past.
Veterans ®f F®reigri V10ars (VFVII) - Edmund "Denny"Austen is a six-year
resident of Hawaii and currently serves as the Post Commander for VFW
Post 3875 of Hilo. Mr. Austen is the AARP District Coordinator for the Sig Island
and is a Loyal Knight of the Hilo Flks Lodge #759. He also is with the Hawaii
Island Veterans Memorial, Inc. Mr. Austen states that he is not affiliated with any
political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006.
~~~"d Veterans Hass®ciati®n ®f Hauvaii (442) -George T. Mukai is a lifelong
resident of Hawaii. He is currently retired from Hawaii Planning Mill Ltd. where
he served as Vice President. Mr. Mukai states that he is not affiliated with any
political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006.
~4t-!Large ~ Patrick A. Davao is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Mr. Davao is
recently retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Defense, Office of
Veterans Services and currently is a Development Instructor with the
St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He also currently serves on the Mayor's
Committee on Aging and is a member of the Sig Island Veterans Association.
He has been an advisor to the Waiakea Uka Community Association and co-
chair of Council Chair Arakaki's campaign. Mr. Davao assisted in the
organization of this
