It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. George A. Wilkens of Council District 8 to the
County of Hawaii Water Board. Mr. Wilkens has lived in Hawaii for over
33 years. He has served the State of Hawaii as Chair of Governor Surns' task
force that wrote "Hawaii and the Sea", and also served on Governor Ariyoshi's
Marine Advisory Council and the University of Hawaii's SEAGRANT Research
Advisory Council. Mr. Wilkens is a member of the Democratic Party, and if
confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006.
