Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Marlin S. Werner of Council District 1 to the
County of Hawaii Pension Board. Mr. Werner is a 15-year resident of Hawaii.
He is currently retired from private practice as an audiologist and speech
pathologist. In 1987, Mr. Werner established a Hilo Chapter of the Self Help for
Hard of Hearing Persons. He has also served with the State of Hawaii
Department of Health Hearing Impaired flask Force, County of Hawaii Mayor's
Committee on People with Disabilities, Hawaii State Board of Hearing Aid
Dealers and Fitters, Bay Clinics of Hawaii Board, and the Salvation Army
Advisory Board, Hilo Temple Corps. Mr. Werner is also a past president of the
Big Island Safety Association, and four time president of the Hilo HARP, and a
sponsor of the Stroke Club of Hilo.
Mr. Werner states that he is not affiliated with any political party, and if confirmed,
will fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Ms. Agnes Ferreira. This term will
expire on December 31, 2004.
