Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Jan K. Yokoyama to the County of Hawaii
Liquor Control Adjudication Board, to fill the vacancy created by Ralph Black
whose term expired on December 31, 2001.
Ms. Yokoyama of Council District 2, is a lifetime resident of Hawaii. She is a
registered nurse with the State Department of Health. She is the current
treasurer and past president of the Hawaii Alliance for Community Health and the
current secretary for the Big Island Coalition for Neighborhood Safety.
Ms. Yokoyama also served as past president for the Hawaii Association for
Diabetes Educators and is a board member for the American Diabetes
Association-Hawaii Chapter. She states that she is a member of the Democratic
Party and if confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006.
