Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to inform you of the appointment of the following individuals to the Gpunty of
Hawaii Committee on the Status of Women:
Council ®istrict 1 - Ms. Susan Shirachi Gonsalves is a 33-year resident of Hawaii and currently
is employed by the University of Hawaii at Hilo as the Americans with Disabilities Act
Coordinator and Disability Services Director. She is also a member of Disability Rights Hawaii
and EH Coalition on Youth. Ms. Shirachi Gonsalves states that she is not affiliated with any
political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2005.
Council ®i~trict 3 - Ms. Sarah K. Togashi is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and is retired from
service with the County and State of Hawaii. Ms. Togashi is currently a director for the Hilo
Lions Club, and secretary for the Keaau/Kula Kumiai. She also is a member of the W.H.
Shipman Advisory Commission and the Keaau Nutrition Center. Ms. Togashi states that she is
a member of the Democratic Party. She will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2005.
