SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
POHAKEA ROAD BRIDGE, PA`AUILO
PROPOSED YIELD LOCATION _
The Hamakua Safety Council has requested that a Yield sign be installed at the Pohakea Road
Bridge because the roadway width at this location is not quite wide enough to accept two-way
traffic across the bridge. Width of the roadway at the bridge is approximately 17.5'.
We investigated this request and conclude that makai bound motorists should stop and yield to
oncoming mauka bound traffic because of better sight distance of approaching vehicles. The
Department of Public Works, Highways Division was contacted to trim existing vegetation to
further improve available sight distance.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendment. Should you
