May 1, 2002 - Honorable James Arakaki, Chairperson and - Members of the County Council Hawaii County Council 25 ~upuni Street Kilo, Hawaii 96720 re: resolution for multi-year lease inclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year for the lease of one (1) compactor for the Department of environmental Management Solid Waste ®ivision. The current compactor at the West Hawaii landfill is 9 years old and will require major repairs which will cost more than the original purchase price of this equipment. , The Solid Waste Fund does not have the resources to purchase the referenced equipment and therefore request the authority to enter in a lease agreement for five (5) years. NE~D~DI: Replacement equipment Bs needed for: One (1) 1993 Model 826C Catepillar Compactor, 731 E, nine (9) years o!d with over 17,000 hours of operations, which will require major repairs where repair cost will exceed- the original purchase price of this used equipment. The Solid Waste Fund does not have the resources to purchase the referenced equipment, and therefore requests the authority to enter into a lease program to finance the purchase over five years.
