Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 207, reports as follows:
Bill No. 207, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 586,
dated April 1, 2002, amends Ordinance No. 01-56, as amended, the Capital Budget, ending
June 30, 2002, by adding the following project:
PUBLIC WORKS:
Puainako Street Extension -Federal 110-399-5391.55 [$410,000] $6,410,000
Funds for this appropriation increase shall be provided from:
Federal Grants Receivable $6,000,000
These funds covers only the Federal Government's portion, or 80%, of the $7,500,000 in change
orders to the existing construction contract due to differing site conditions and
pavement/shoulder upgrade. The remaining 20% of the funding will come from the State
Department of Transportation.
Dennis Lee, Director of Public Works, explained that as Puainako Street is a State road, this
project does not require County funds. The new portion of the road, as with the existing, will be
maintained by the State.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 207 and
recommends it pass first reading.
