No. 193-02 PLACE: Councilroom TIME: 9:10 a.m. Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 193-02, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, per Communication No. 577, dated March 25, 2002, regarding the naming of streets in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows: Resolution No. 193-02 authorizes the approval of the street names for the roadways within the Keauhou View Estates Subdivision, Unit [Phases IV, V & VI, Pahoehoe 3rd & 4th, La`aloa lst & 2nd, Kapala`alaea lst, North Kona, Hawaii. The Planning Commission at its February 25, 2002 meeting approved the names for the roadways in Exhibit "A" as follows: La`aloa Avenue - continuation of existing street Ho`olaupa`i Street - to bring forth in great abundance any good thing Mahiehie Street - pleasant and comfortable, as in weather Lupalupa Way - luxuriant; lush growth Ho`ohonua Court - firmly established Ho`oilina Court - inherited estate Ko`ako`a Street - well-supplied, rich Queen Kalama Avenue - continuation of existing street Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the Council is authorized to adopt street names for Hawa`i County's unnamed roadways. Resolution no. 193-02, Draft 2, which included the diacritical marks in "Pahoehoe", "La`aloa Avenue", and "Kapala`alaea", was circulated and approved by Your Committee. Your Committee did not entertain any discussion on this measure. Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 193-02, Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
