Thank your for your letter of May 8, 2002 offering an informational presentation about the
work and partnerships of our county's Workforce Investment Board (HCWIB) to the Council's
Committee on Human Services and Economic Development on June 18, 2002.
I look forward to your presentation and learning more about the efforts of the HCWIB. After
your return to work on May 2 I please contact Rory Flynn at the Legislative Auditor's Office
(961-8564) to coordinate arrangements for your presentation (audio-visual needs, written
materials, etc.).

On behalf of the Hawaii County Workforce Investment Board, I am
requesting an opportunity to inform and educate your Committee
members about the work of the HCWIB, and the Workfoic;~ Tizvastm~nt
Act (WIA).
As you learned at our recent HCWIB Training Conference and
strategic. planning Workshop in Waikoloa, the potential for
economic growth and workforce development on the Big Island are
tremendous. ~y establishing partnerships, collaborating with
industry, education, agl.d community leader., and utili~in~ the
tools and resources already available within vur communities,
these goals can a?urely )aecome a reality.
The presentation should. take na longer than 20 minutes, and HCWIB
staff and I will be available to an~wEY any c~LLaationa the Members
may have. I would respectfully recyuESt, however, that the
