Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 202-02, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 202-02, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 592, dated April 9, 2002, authorizes the Mayor to enter into amulti-year agreement with
K. Taniguchi, Ltd. for the Hanama Place Office Building.
The County of Hawaii seeks to extend its usage for the County offices at Hanama Place for a
period of three (3) years, which will begin on July 1, 2002. Funds are budgeted for future fiscal
years to cover the anticipated cost.
Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
Council Member Tyler expressed appreciation to K. Taniguchi, Ltd., the lessor, for an equitable
lease agreement.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 202-02
and recommends its adoption.
