You can see who this email was sent to in the "cc" line. Mahalo nui loa! Aloha County Council Me4nbers! As you may recall, I've supported an increase in the Real Property Tax. I've recently learned of the huge disparity between what dVest I-Iawaii pays and what Jest I-Iawaii receives. This must be corrected over timme. Never-the-less, I believe Mayor Kim's proposal of increasing property taxes should be accepted for one year. That one year will give him tune to reduce inequities that exist, reform county government to be snore cost-effective, and allow the County Council to pass necessary good exemption ordinances. This one year period is needed to balance the immediate balance and will allow time to write and pass necessary ordinances. There are many services, (i.e. planning, waste rraanagement, police, fire, parks, roads, c;tc.) which need to be given priority. These have already been reduced earlier this year and no more services can be appropriately utilized. I urge you to allow Mayor Kim to perform successfully by passing the property tax increase and dedicating this coming year to real reform in our County government. Please vote FOR the Real Property tax increases. Marjorie Erway PO Box 2807 Kailua-Kona, HI 90745 s 808-324=4624 ~~n,, IQo, File ~O•~~ Ref . `>i'o: Kef. I)~te ~ ~ 5/13/02 .
