Subject: West Hawaii Family Says No To Taxes
Aloha,
Our family lives in in West Hawaii and our daughter swims in the community REC~fv~~
pool every day, a community pool which was threatened to stop being heated

because of lack of funds. We drive our daughter to school on county roads ~se.~..=~„~-_
that will soon be as bad as Saddle Road (of course we refer to the Kona side ~ ,r,~y ~un~tl~4. i ~~1
of Saddle Road), and we drive through school intersections clearly needing - - "
better traffic control for the safety of our children...every day.
The division between East and West was not brought by the people, but by
all of you. The spending, the choices, the decisions affect every family
here in Hawaii. We are property owners and pay our taxes as do many other
families here in West Hawaii. We will not support more taxes to simply be
spent elsewhere as the problems we face in our community exponentially
increase with neglect. Parks, pools, roads, safe streets...we need those too
here in Kona.
Don't mistake no response as support for policy. Many in Kona work several
jobs to be able to live here and pay the taxes you levy on us. Our
collective friends and neighbors all say the same... we want services that
we already pay for someone else to receive. The quotes in the papers reflect
that you feel there is much support for raising taxes, and we took the time
to make sure you realize there really is not.
