I am so frustrated with politics here in Hawaii. When are we going to stand up for ourselves and
say enough is enough? The folks in Hilo are stealing from us and we allow it to happen. We pay
more in taxes and they spend them. Come on people, now is the time to speak up and let-them
know we won't tolerate it anymore. It is UNFABR! What happened to our Mayor? He meets with
union leaders and others and instead of cutting costs and becoming more efficient, he says,
"Let's Raise Taxes." What is wrong with these politicians? I DO NOT want to pay more money
out of my hard earned doBlars to support the few so they can keep their hefty salaries and benefits
while the majority struggles to pay for it. Let's do something about this. Call, email, vote them out
of office, whatever it takes to make this islands government see that Kona is as much a part of
the Big Island as Hilo

Subject: Tax Hike -PLEASE VOTE NO
Dear Councilmen,
If this email does not go to each councilman, please distribute a copy to each and please give me
email addresses that will for future correspondence.
I strongly urge all councilmen to vote against the tax hike proposed by our Mayor. it is very unfair
to increase taxes. without trying to streamaine and reduce government. As an example, please
consider reducing OT funding for the Halo Correctional Facility. I read recently in the- West Hawaii
Today paper that about $750 million dollars are budgeted for OT at the prison. The average sick
days taken per guard is 28 days/year. These days are covered by OT. PLI=ASE consider
reducing sick day limit to 12days/year like most industry. This would enable rutting $321 million,
almost half that is needed. Also, raise fees at municipal golf course in Hilo that we in W. Hawaii
are subsidizing. Come on now green fees of $5 during week, $33/rno un4imited, $18/mo for Srs,
$10/mo for students. We have: to pay at least 10 times that in Kona. There must be many other
areas to cut in a fair way. Please follow Oaminic Yagong's lead. in finding ways to cut unessential
services and county payroll. Not only is government affected by 9/11, we all ace affected in our
pocketbooks and it is unfair.-for us to be asked to dig- deeper when we don't have it.
