Dear Board of Directors,
It is with disappointment after all these months of working with Ainaloa Association in
trying to resolve the ownership question of the Ainaloa Boulevard. On May l 4, 2002
Mayor Kim his cabinet and myself met with you and it was decided by your unanimous
vote to turn over to the County the Ainaloa Boulevard. I committed to providing a
resolution within two weeks of the May 14th meeting indicating that the Ainaloa
Community Association Board of Directors, the Mayor and the County Council were in
agreement that the road with all of its liability and maintenance be turned over to the
County.
I received a letter addressed to Mayor Harry Kim on May 21, 2002 indicating that you
have reversed your desire to give the road over to the County. I find this very confusing
as it has always been indicated to myself, the Mayor and the previous administration that
the intent by the Ainaloa Community was that they wished to relinquish ownership of the
Ainaloa Boulevard. Further statements by members of your board indicated in 1997 a
letter asking for approval to turn over the road to the County, was sent out to all the lot
owners in the Ainaloa Subdivision. 80% of the response made it known that they wished
to have the road turned over to the County. I find your actions today going against the
majority. However, I will honor your wishes to defer this action on the June 4th, Public
Works Committee meeting.
Please communicate with me if you wish any further action be taken with this issue.
Sincerely,
ar a ik
