Dear Council members;
I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, far your vote to support agriculture on the Big
Island, It is heart warming to know that our elected officials arc capable of real courabe and
leadership, and ere capable of putting partisan politics aside, and re-election concerns aside to
make the vote that best suits the people, and the economy of our Beautiful lsland Ilome.
I have lived, and farmed in this county since 189 Mostly ginger during my first few years hrre,
and ther+ tree crops later on, and presently. I have 5 acres of Mac-Nut trees in I'uueo, and 5
acres of assorted tropical fruit,, and Avocado in Kurtistoun. i was lucky enough to participate in
the temporary Rambutan protocol that took place this last season My gross from 35 Rambutan
trees, 4 to 5 year old,was $4,800 My b~ross from 200, 10 to l2 year old Mac Nut trees is $4500.
The direct cause and effect of your vote is that 1, a small fanner, will increase my tropical fruit
orchard two fold, because 7 now know that the local govenuncnt will support my effort.
I appreciate your support. My family appreciates your support. I am hopeful that this
agricultural industry that you have triggered will be a reason for my children to stay, and work,
and live in our community, and not be lured to the mainland out of necessity.
In closing, i would also like to thank you for listening, and comprehending the scientific
evidence shoum you. The overwhelming testimony oCexperts in the field, and my own research
has convinced me that this will be a safe facility, and the end product will be safe, nourishing
and marketable.
