either the applicable fines or the equivalent in meaningful conitrne~nity service
from the ofifcnders.
There are many locations in Kona cohere illegal activities occur on a regular
basis, e,nd T'r~ sure arty resident of any neighborhood would be happy to point
them out t® law-enforcement. The most glaring exataple, however, is the
®Id ~irp®rt. Post a few p®lic~ officers there any night t6ae seek, have
them cite and/or arrest every teenagerlyoung adult who tree the ®fd ~ as
their personal harego~st for underage and/or public drinking, drag-racing in a
15~~PI~ gone, drug dealing/using, outrageously-loud stereo blasting and
littering the entire area with garbage and bottles.
This situation is ongoing, flagrant and obvi®us to everyone in the comr~nunity
vsho ever goes down there. T have been there many tunes to watch my
husband's softball games, and there is c~Ay~a constant stream of cars
roaring in and out of the area and blasting their stereos so loud it is
irnp®5sible to enj®y the game. ~ stay await' now because o$ the n®ise_ ~ have
also been there Many mornings, to walk on the runway for exercise, and the
evidence of the previous night's activities is strewn all ®ver the gr®und.
Broken glass literally c®vers every square inch, and there are always piles of
empty beer bottles and cartons everywhere. '~"he whole area is a disgrace
during the day and downright dangerous at night. one thing x°ve never seen
there, however, is a cop writing a citation.
Taxpayers are tired of payio~g more and more for less and less service and
protection. UUe want the police to d® their one and only fob: to ~r~f®a~ee the
liar, and we want the courts t® see to it that the taxpayers who foot the bill
are paid back. ~Ve want the offenders to either pay ti~fi~y f~ro~s for their ~
parasitic activities or work hard cleaning and rnaintainirog the public property
they so arrogantly destroy. end we do not want to hear that them are not ~
enough police to do this job. ®n ~y way into town yesterday at 4 p.rn., ~ d
