Dear sirs:
I am in support of Hill 1162.
There is no question chat irradiated foods are safe to eat.
Plants cannot grow without the sun. ErEO they are irradiated daily with
far more powerful spectra than the shallow penetration characterizing the
radiation source planned for this island.
There is no question that the people of this island are in a serious
balance of payments predicament
There is no question that we have high unempl.oyement on this island
despite Che "economic boom" we are told is occurring on the mainland.
There is no question what will happend to us come the next mainland
recession if we do not act now.
None-the-less, I would oppose the irradiation facility if 1 did not feel
Chat its operation and its impact upon foodstuffs will be safe.
Respectfull u it ed,
~ K
