Dear Chairman Arakaki and Members: -
It is my pleasure to submit for your confirmation the appointment of Clayton K. Yugawa as
County of I-Iawai'i Director of Data Systems pursuant to the Charter of the County of Hawaii.
This appointment will take effect on September 1, 2002.
Since 1987, Mr. Yugawa has been employed by Verizon Hawaii Inc., formerly GTE
Hawaiian Tel. He has had extensive experience with telecommunication networks and
computers during his tenure at Verizon/GTE, as well as management responsibility. His
resume is attached for your information.
Mr. Yugawa will serve a term co-terminus with my tenure, which will end on
December 6, 2004.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge G. A. Rock, the Data Systems Manager,
who has very capably kept the department running smoothly over the last year and a half in
the absence of a department head. I know it has not been easy for him, and I appreciate his
efforts very much.
