The proposed connector road from Hualalai Village through Kona Hillcrest
into Letchuna St., could be an asset to the Kona Hillcrest subdivision if
certain improvements were made by Hualalai Village.
As I am sure you arc aware, the Kona Hillcrest subdivision has only one
road leading into and out of the area. The roads were not made to handle the
kind of traffic that would result from opening the connector road into
Hillcrest, particularly Oni Oni. Oni Oni exits onto Kuakini Hwy. at an
intersection known to be already dangerous. Accidents and some fatalities
have occurred at this intersection.
I would propose the Hualalai Village provide the following, should the
connector road be opened.
1. Widen Oni Oni to accommodate the traffic.
2. Provide for a stoplight or 4 way stop at the intersection of Oni Oni St. and
Kuakini Hwy.
