Comm. 177: CATCHMENT WATER
Copy of letter to Dr. Bruce Anderson, Department of
Health, from Senator Andrew Levin dated January 8,
1989, informing he has written to Hawaii's
Congressional delegates concerning the problem of
catchment water and was referred to a Water Loan and
Grant Program administered by the Farmers Home
Administration.
Transmits a copy of a pamphlet entitled Water and Waste
Disposal Loans and Grants, which he received from the
FHA, who also informed him that assistance would be
available anywhere on the Big Island except Hilo.
Requests the DOH take the lead in moving forward on a
program to help extend waterlines to catchment areas.
Comm. 178: From Senator Andrew Levin dated January 8, 1989,
transmitting a copy of a report to the 1989 Legislature
entitled "An Assessment of Rural Water Catchment
Problems", prepared by the Department of Land and
Natural Resources, Division of Water and Land
Development. Asks if County funds could be provided to
solve the water catchment problem.

From Planning Commission Chairman Gary Mizuno dated
February 2, 1989, submitting a bill to change the
district classification for 47,680 square feet of land
from a Single Family Residential - 10,000 square foot
(RS-10) to a General Commercial - 10,000 square foot
(CG-10) zoned district at Waiakea, South Hilo.

presentation on the status of the Alii Highway project,
as requested by the Committee on Planning.
Comm. 213: APPOINTMENT TO HAWAII REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
From Mayor Bernard K. Akana dated February 8, 1989,
submitting for confirmation, the following appointment
to the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency:
Baron Nakatani, an Independent from Hilo, to
fill the vacancy of Thomas J. Hirano, for a term
ending December 31, 1993. Mr. Nakatani is Manager
of HonFed Bank.
