Tears avo Hawaii and California tried iradiatiog male med- flies in an attempt to control and ultimatly iradicate med- flies, in theory it or something similiar should hayed worked. pow we're tal::ing about iradiating not the problem but the food in which the :nedfly has laved it's eggs, but we're only trying to kill the eggs, These dead eggs well be shipped some where else ;seeping some where else safe from medflies- this is very considerate of us!!!. But how can we say we've helped Eawaii's farmers, ^1he're still going to throw away -aillions of dollars worth of stung produce that could be sold if it hadn't been stun„ in the first place. Iradiatin~ of produce does not keep produce from being stung. Building an iradiation plant seems to me t-:at we're ieciorn~ the problem. I would like to propose an idea Hawaii has a unique si~uaticn in being the High-iech state of the art place in the pacific. Al ono with six billion.. human :Hinds on ?arth, with all this I think. we can find a way to control or ::ill one little buo, Don't you?. Farmer-Bill ,1cClellan :~„r:.:. Ma. 1~ti. 13 n~.
