Re: Capital Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance adding the Pohakealani Road Culvert project for
$200,000 to the Capital Budget. This project will construct a culvert under Pohakealani
Road in Pohakea Homesteads as the existing road fords an intermittent natural drainage
way. Occasionally, heavy rains create flows across the road that cannot be crossed.

By ordinance, appropriate $200,000.00 in funds for Pohakealani Road
Culvert.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUS,T~~'ICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
This money will be used to construct a culvert under Pohakealani Road in
Pohakea Homesteads. The existing road fords an unnamed intermittent
natural drainage way. Occasionally, heavy rains create flows across the
road that cannot be crossed. Because Pohakealani Road is the only route
to some homes, families are sometimes separated from their homes or from
each other for one or two days. This project will greatly reduce the
number of these kinds of occurences.
