Bear Council Member Leithead-Todd:
It has come to our attention that developers of the subject planned project are requesting
the use of our existing roads hcrc in Kona Heights and Kailua. View Estates for access
rather the providing their oven outlet for the development,
ie~Je are strongly protesting this request. Nani Kailua is the only access road and was
originally meant for two developments (Kona Heights and Kailua View Estates). Since
that time, Kealoha Bevelop€nent and e Maryl Development Mauka (consisting of 5-acre
parcels) are NOS using this SAME outlet. There are ~?y, manY problems ~~rith
speeders, heavy traffic, accidents the light at Queea~ K and Nani. Kaiiua. ~dhen there is
an accident it closes the road for all of these subdivisions other than the Maryl which is a
gated cortaunity with access to Mamalahoa I-Iighway. It should be noted that mere has
been tally froYn the Dept. of Transportation re: adding speed bumps to Nani Kailua to slog
down ALL of the speeding traffic. ~A'e already desperately need a nevi outlet to Queen K
f-Iligh~vay rather th~x adding more heavy and noisy traffic to the existing heavy and noisy
traffic.
Please consider our voice to be in STRONG opposition to this proposed use of our roads.
~e would appreciate your sharing this position with the other rraembers of the Pl~.r~ing

RE: Bill #232 -The Gomes Family Limited Partnership
Dear Council Member Leithead-Todd:
It recently came to my attention that developers of the subject planned project are
requesting the use of our existing roads here in Kona Heights and Kailua-View 1?states
for access rather than providing a dedicated outlet for their development.
VVe strongly protest. As you should be aware, Nani Kailua is our only access and was
originally meant for the two developments (Kona Heights and Kailua-View Bstates).
Since that time, Kealoha Development and the Maryl development Mauka (consisting of
5 acre parcels) are now using this same outlet. We have nothing but problems with
speeders, heavy traffic, accidents at the light at the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu and
Nani Kailua. Any accident effectively closes the road for all these subdivisions other
than the Maryl which is a gated community with access to Mamalahoa Highway. There
has even been talk from the Department of Transportation regarding adding speed bumps
to Nani Kailua. V6le already desperately need a new outlet to Queen K Highway rather
than adding more heavy and noisy traffic to the existing heavy and noisy traffic.
Please consider my voice to be in strong opposition to this proposed use of our roads. I
would appreciate your sharing this sentiment with the other members of the Planning
Committee. Mahalo!
Sincerely,
~
