HARVEST TREATMENT FACILITY PROJECT
Honorable Chair and members of the Council:
My name is John Kai and I am President of the Hawaii Island
Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.
We endorse Bill #62 regarding the funding and support for the
construction and operation of an irradiation facility in Hilo,
as a much needed, safe treatment of farm products for export.
This treatment protocol has a long history of safe operation
in the treatment of quarantine problems for agriculture and
will provide the agricultural segment of our economy an opportunity
to market. their products worldwide.
