Re: Resolution Concerning-Richard Adam vs. Wayne Carvalho,
individually and in his capacity as Chief of Police for the County of
Hawai i and Stanley Haanio, individually and in his capacity as a
Police Officer, for the Count,~ofHawai i, Civil No. 98-00528HG
We respectfully request that the following matter be taken up at the next regularly
scheduled County Council meeting:
Resolution authorizing the Corporation Counsel, and his authorized
representatives, to enter into an agreement with the individually
named parties, who are employees or former employees of the
County of Hawaii, to represent them in the civil action entitled
Richard Adam vs. Wayne Carvalho, individually and in his capacity
as Chief of Police for the County ofHawai i and Stanley Haanio,
individually and in his capacity as a Police Officer for the County of
Hawai % Civil No. 98-00528 HG
We further request that the resolution be waived past committee meetings. The
subject matter of this resolution was discussed with the County Council during the
executive session held on July 31, 2002. vet

Pursuant to Section 1(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
