Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Richard P. Rego to the County of Hawaii Cost of
Government Commission. Mr. Rego, of Council District 6, is a life-long resident
of Hawaii and is self-employed in the construction industry. Mr. Rego is very
active in his community as evidenced by his being a member of the Volcano
Community Board, the Cooper Center Council, the Volcano Volunteer {sire
Department, and as a director on the Board of the Hawaii Island Contractors
Association.
If confirmed, Mr. Rego will replace Lloyd Van de Car, who resigned. The
commission terminates in December, 2002.
