SUBJECT: Resolution No. 236-02, Draft 2
Attached for your consideration, please find an amended "Draft 2" of Resolution 236-02,
a resolution expressing support for a moratorium on the release and planting of
genetically modified (GM) coffee in the North and South Kona districts.
In the first "Be It Resolved" clause, Braft 2 deletes the words "adopted, anti approved by
those orgaaaizations" and substitutes "by the appropriate goverftmertt agency or
agencies in collaboration avith the Kona farmers' organizatiotas."
After much discussion with interested parties about this resolution, I believe the insertion
of this amended language will promote agreement and encourage forward-looking
collaboration among various sectors of our agricultural community.
