To Whom it may concern;
I am writting because I am totally against Mayor Yamashiro's
proposed food irradation plant!
I was under the impression we live in a democratic country, yet
Mr. Yamashiro is running this beautiful island like a dictatorship!
Why will he not listen to the people who live here? The very people
that are suppose to buy the fruit he wants to irradiate, don't want
it! Who are the consumer terrorists here anyway? The Japanese have
said they will boycot all Hawaiian produce, thousands of people have
taken the time to write from the mainland(many more feel this way
that haven't), people have come to the hearings to protest this, written
letters to the newspapers, everyone I've discussed this with is against
it. Why does he close his mind to the truth, instead of listening
to the propaganda of the people that want to build this plant?
I believe he and possibly some of the council members must have a
vested int-erest to push through this plant when no one wants it.
Further I believe that he will probably propose some new laws that
will force farmers to use this plant if they want to ship produce
off island. Thereby creating more hardship for the people who work
so hard to make a living here. Lastly, our Hawaiian fruit will rot in
the stores or seriously injure those who buy it. Not today, or
tomorrow, but in the near future. Does he really want to be the cause
of cancer in so many?
We live in one of the richest countries in the world, yet because
of modern technology, food processing and conveniences, we are not
eating and preparing food as God intended us to.Even the most potent
metabolic enzynes in our digestive tracts, cannot cannot extract energy
from food molecules whose electro-magnetic valence has been altered
or distroyed by chemical additives, gamma radiation, or microwave
cooking, because damaged molecules do not react and combine normally
with enzymes and biochemicals and therfore do not yield much viable
energy. Instead they can cause faulty biochemical reactions that
are contributing causes of cancer. Only natural foods consumed in
a relatively natural state produce wholesome natural energy in the
body. We are reaping the rewards of these actions with a society
full of cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's, children with A.D.D.e~!'c.
Many of these diseases were extreamly rare or non-existant 50 years ago.
Our hospitals are underfunded, needed services will not be available
soon. Our children's futures are being eroded by education cutbacks
because there is supposedly not enough money. Yet there is enough
money for Mr.Yamashiro's "dream project", that no one wants or needs.
He is commiting a crime to steal our taxpayers money where it's
needed most!
I pray that it's not too late to stop Mr. Yamashiro in this folly!
