appointed the following individuals to the Hawaii County
Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Committee.
James B. Friday is a 12-year resident of Hawaii and is a forester
with the University of Hawaii. He is not affiliated with any political
party.

Comm. 745: SIGN VARIANCE REQUEST - ST. JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL
("HOME OF THE CARDINALS" SIGN TO BE AIRBRUSHED BY
GERARD CALLO)
From Le Roy Andrews, Principal, St. Joseph High School, informing they
would like to place a sign on their school gym at the corner of Kapi`olani
and Hualalai Streets, which would read "Home of the Cardinals". The
Planning Department informed him that their school area is zoned R. D.
3.75 ("double family residential"), and upon checking Chapter 3 of the
Hawaii County Code, Division 3, Permissible Signs, Section 3-26, they
find that the sign they would like to install is larger than the permissible
size. Therefore, they are requesting a sign variance from the requirements
of the Hawaii County Code.
