Your Committee on Parks & Environmental Management, to which was referred
Communication No. 650, reports as follows:
Communication No. 650 is transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated May 31, 2001,
submitting for confirmation, the appointment of Ms. Barbara Bell as Director of
Environmental Management.
Ms. Bell is presently employed as the Executive Director of Recycle Hawaii, anon-profit
organization. Ms. Bell has been serving as the co-chair of the County's Environmental
Management Commission. She also served in 1995-1996 as the County Clerk of the
County of Hawaii. If confirmed, Ms. Bell will serve a term co-terminus with Mayor Kim,
ending on December 6, 2004.
Your Committee on Parks and Environmental Management recommends the approval of
the nomination of Ms. Barbara Bell as Director of the Hawaii County's Department of
Environmental Management.
