Re: Status of Coffee Plants
Right now the UH doesn't have any of these plants. Dr, Harrington is no
longer with the UH and left two years ago. As of today, no research done
on GMO. The moment the project stopped, all the plants were destroyed.
Will look for memo. You can always go to the USDA website -look under
permits. There are permits listed to UH but because principal investigator
left UH the project left with him, Says she's aware the plants were
destroyed, not sure how. Destroyed December of 2000.

Mr. Tyler understands that these plants under permits # 02N, 03N and 04N
Were transferred from Dr. John Stiles who left the University to Dr. H.
Michael Harrington.
In a letter from the UH Biological Safety Officer Hupert Olipares to Mr.
Ken Ching, Regional F~otanist at APHIS-USDA in Honolulu, he states that
once an administrative and legal determination on whether to devitalize or
the coffee plant has been reached, a memo will be forwarded.
Where are these plants?
