Committee on Human Services and economic Development a-l~w~oi County CoUnCil 25 Au~uni street Hilo, !-lawaii 36720 Aloha, I am a mother and farmer on the island of Kauai. I strongly believe that biotechnology is a new science that does not understand it's p®tential for great harm. ~sinJ our home, the islands of Ma~nraii aS a test ground is unacceptable and greatly disturbs me and questions my trust of our current administration and it's priorities. Although I am not a resident of the island of Hawaii, or a coffee grower, I am highly self-educated on the issue of genetically engineered organisms and the potential risks that they offer. These risks are too high and I am ashamed of those tha# would assume that vfte, the citizens of Hawaii, could afford to take these risks. Obviously I am in support of resolution 236-02 and urge you to support this bill. Thank you f®r your tirrte, l~osa Silver ~d=~'--- ~~s aie ~~e i~~e S~~ ~ J~
