I recently read some articles about Smoke-Free Restaurants in Hawaii. Some of the articles were about how people must follow the new change in the law. They also must be informed about the Smoke-Free Laws in restaurants when they cal! for reservations. Smoke-Free restaurants in other states and munieipalities have demonstrated that the law does not hurt the restaurant business or tourism. If anyone smokes in a Smoke-Free restaurant, they can be fined. The first violation has a fine of not more than 100 dollars, the second violation has a fine of 200 dollars, and the third violation within one year of the previous violation has a fine of 500 dollars. Secondhand.smoke is bad because it can cause a lot of diseases such as lung cancer, heart disease, sudden infant death (SIBS), and many other diseases. Secondhand smoke kills many non-smokers every year. Spending two hours in a smoke filled room is equivalent to smoking four cigarettes. Smoke burning from the tip of the cigarette is 20 times more carcinogenic than the smoke inhaled by a smoker. Studies show that the more people who smoke in a workplace, the greater the risk to non-smokers. People who are routinely exposed to a lot of secondhand smoke, such as workers in bars and restaurants, can see their risk of lung cancer triples My conclusion to Smoke-Free Restaurants in Hawaii is that restaurants should place Smoke-Free Signs everywhere in the restaurant. This will let everyone know that you can't smoke inside. The only place that you can smoke is outside of the restaurant.
