Dear Caanty Camcil Members:
We as taxpaying citizens feel it is important if the county council is
going to pursue spending S2 million plus dollars of our money on an
irradiation facility or prvrpting such a facility, that it is your
responsibility to make it contingent on an independent econanic feasibility
study. As independent small business owners, we have to be pragmatic
in the way we run our business'. Government can only do otherwise by
leaning on the backs of small business' such as ours. Please make
sure this independent feasibility study is written into Bill IF62.
'Itie sugar industry dramatically shaved has difficult it is for Hawaii to
ampete in a global market. Will rambutan & lychee be any different3
If we establish a market, will Florida, Central America & Asian
countries be able to underprice us 7 We realize there are diverse opinions
on the health & environmental aspects of this pmject but the
ecorKtnic concerns should not be played with or ignored. Again we feel
it is incwnbent of you to explore ecorianic feasibility before spending
taxpayers money. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this with us.
