Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Marjorie A. Erway of Council District 7 to the
County of Hawaii Environmental Management Commission. Ms. Erway is an
8-year resident of Hawaii and is a retired registered nurse. She currently serves
as secretary for the Big Island Yoga Center and treasurer for Plan to Protect.
Ms. Erway also does volunteer work at the Hulihee Palace Gift Shop. She has
served on a similar commission in South Pasadena in the early 1990's. She has
a passion for recycling. Ms. Erway states that she is not affiliated with any
political party. If confirmed, she will replace Peter Martin, who has resigned. The
term will expire on December 31, 2002.
