To My elected Council Representatives:
I, as a resident, citizen, and votes on the I$ag Island, saapport the effort to eliminate snaols~g froffi
workplaces grad restaurants, to Il®TCLUDE bars and night clubs.
I have directly experienced a positive change in zny quality of life as a result of the bane on smoking
in airliners and theaters, as well as selected private businesses.
I applaud the positive change on our sanol~e-f~+ee public school caampuses.
I have heard about the positive chaatge in the atrrtosphe>"e in California n~sultiag from state-wide
regulations on public smoking.
I, as a taxpayer, continue to pay for the consequences of both first- and second-hand smoke. I, as
responsible citizen, have the right and the obligation to protect mryself and those who as~e unable to
protect therr~selves from highly addicts ve nicotine, as well as to assure the quality of the air I e
every day.
Ft~ally, regulations on public srrioking will send a clear and consistent message to our children that
we do not condone the use addictive substances and that we support TI~II2 right to a clean and
whole~srne environgrtente
