Re: Support for Bi11260
Aloha Council Members,
The Salvation Army Dona Community Clinic wholeheartedly supports the
immediate passage of Bi11260. Anything that can be done to reduce smoking and the
harm it can do is needed now.
Each and every day we see the many health related problems caused by smoking
and second-hand smoke in our clinic. Not only are smokers more likely to suffer from
emphysema, C®PI~, asthma, allergies, bronchitis, heart disease and a variety of cancers,
innocent non-smokers, including little children suffer similarly. Millions of dollars and
thousands of lives are lost each year because of cigarette smoking and tobacco abuse. Bill
260. is an attempt to lessen public exposure to the deadly chemicals and other toxins
found in cigarette smoke. Public health is the- issue.
Your vote in support of Bill 260 will laterally "clear the air" for all of us here on
this Island. We sincerely hope that you will have the courage to do the right thing and
vote in favor of Bi11260. It truly is a matter of life and death.
Sincerely,
1 v~~\J VCJe Y'~f®a .
