Your Committee on Finance. to which was referred Resolution No. 244-02. reports as fi~llows:
Resolution No. 244-02. transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba. ti~ia Communication
No. 744, dated September 1 l .2002, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of
more than one fiscal year for amulti-year lease for a copy machine.
The Department of Public Works Administration Office wishes to enter into afive-year lease
contract for a copy machine. Funds would be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated costs.
Pursuant to Section IO-1 1, Hawaii County Charter, any contract. lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
Council Member Tyler requested a copy of the evaluation that shows that a lease is more cost
efficient prior to the next Council meeting.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 244-(12
and recommends its adoption.
