W9~~R~AS, the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and
Justice Assistance Division has authorized funding towards the Hawaii County Police Department's
Increasing Drug Analysis Project; and
WFIIsR~AS, this grant will be used to purchase equipment for the Police Department's crime
laboratory; and
WH~IZ~~S, the equipment will decrease the amount of time necessary to complete
instrumental drug analysis and increase the amount of cases processed; and
WH~~Ee4S, the funds provided by the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General,
are derived from grants provided by the federal government; and
WH~RSAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.

that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement for a Grant Contract with the
State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General.

above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the
County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
~E l~ EURT~iER RES®~a/ED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance and Police Departments, and the
State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General.
