WO=6~12~e~S, the Federal emergency Management Agency, through the State of Hawaii,
Department of Defense, Civil Defense Division has authorized funding for the Hawaii County
Department of Planning's Pre-disaster Mitigation -GIS Street Layer Project; and
WO-6~RE~4S, this grant will be used to develop a GIS street layer for the entire County of
Hawaii; and
WH~R~e4S, the GIS street layer is essential to analyze evacuation capabilities and for the 911
emergency systems and is a key component to develop the Hazard Mitigation Plan for the County;
and
WHEREAS, Hawaii FZevised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.

that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the State of Hawaii,
Department of Defense.
~E IT EIJRT'HER F~ESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to sign the
above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the
County of Hawaii pursuant to the I-lawai`i County Charter.
BE IT IFII~T'HEi~ I~ESOI! V~D that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, the Hawaii County Civil
Defense Agency, and the State of Hawaii, Department of Defense.
