Re: Resolution No. 309-98, Authorizing the Leasing of County Lands
(Formerly Owned by Hamakua Sugar Co., Inc.) for Diversified
Agriculture, Eco-Tourism & Pastoral Uses by Negotiations; and
Resolution No. 332-98, Authorizing the Disposition of County Lands
(Formerly Owned by I°Iamakua Sugar Co., Inc.) Through Lease,
Exchange, and Sale.
I hereby submit the withdrawal of Resolution No. 309-98, transmitted by Communication
No. 604. 10, which was referred to the Finance Committee on August 17, 1998; and
Resolution No. 332-98, transmitted by Communication No. 604.52, which was referred to
the Finance Committee on September 25, 1998.
On January 24, 2002, the Council adopted Resolution No. 161-02 Draft 2 which
authorizes the sale/transfer or exchange of the former Hamakua Sugar Company, Inc.
lands now under County ownership. In addition, on June 19, 2002 the Council adopted
Resolution No. 209-02, which authorizes the sale by negotiation of the former Hamakua
Sugar Company, Inc., lands now under County ownership. Both of these resolutions will
address these lands as needed.
