T}te facility is not ne ded. There are much better,CCsawfdr ways /
to deal. with tY~e fruit fly problem in expar•ted fruits. There has
been enough short-sighted, profit driven poisoning of this island
already. The health of the people of the land is completely,
essentially, connected to the health of the landl~The l~eal.th of the
people of the .and is too great. a price to pay to line the pockets
of the greedy.

~S ~ Whatever the reason, I do not. want radioactive materials on this
island. Even the small amounts used for medical purposes need to be
/ more carefully morf.itored. This island is too small to afford ANY
type of nuclear "acoident". We who live here have no where to go.
Y"~,~e,~ We who live here will not, be able to pipe in water from hundreds of
l miles away, should our water table become contaminated.
I once heard a cold war era general say that i.t did not matter
what might happen to his gx:andchildren in case the of a nuclear
holocaust, if it became necessary to destroy the world in order to
'win the war', he would push the button. That was when I realized
that T could not depend on our leaders to cherish their own
families, and I certainly could not depend on our leaders to put the
good o£ the people ahead of profit, or to even use common sense in
making decisions.
Please, think about this. Do your homework, look at the facts,
records, statistics around nuclear businesses and radioactive
materials. Really look, with your heart and your mind. ~ 1~ G
