i111i~fE~~AS, the United States of America through the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service has authorized funding for a Rural Fire Assistance Grant to the Hawaii
County Fire Department; and
11V~°I~R~AS, the funds will be used for wildland fire training and equipment purchase; and
VV~S~R~~S, the public will benefit by having reduced fire loss, increased firefighter safety and
training, and the reduction of occurrence and intensity of wildland fires with the urban interface; and
NOII~i~R~~S, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.

that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement for a Grant Contract with the
U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and fihe
County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.

copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance and Fire Departments, and U.S.
Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
